Ginseng Root Powder (White American) - PANAX QUINQUEFOLIA

(Organically Grown) Available in 1 GM, 1 OZ, 1/4 LB, 1/2 LB, 1 LB.

Description: White American Ginseng, is a member of the Araliaceae family, and a close relative of Asian Ginseng (Panax Ginseng). It is a North Americian perennial herb, distinguished by its dark green leaves, simple erect stem bearing three leaves, cluster bright of red berries, and large pale yellow-brown colored, fleshy root with some small rootlets existing upon the lower portion. According to traditional Chinese medicine’s philosphy of opposites, White American Ginseng is a 'cool' or 'yin' Ginseng used to treat hot symptoms such as stress, insomnia, palpitations, and headache, whereas Asian Panax Ginseng is 'hot' or 'yang' Ginseng and is used to treat cold diseases. White American Ginseng is considered a less 'stimulating' member of the Ginseng family.

Origin: United States

Other Names: Five Fingers, Man's Health, Panax Quinquefolium, Panax Quinquefolius, Red Berry, Sang, Wonder of the World Root

Part Used: Root

Culinary Uses: Ginseng is added to candies, soda and liqueurs.

Medicinal Uses: American Ginseng can be used by those who seek the same effects of Panax Ginseng, but without the highly stimulating aspects. In traditional Chinese Medicine, White American Ginseng is considered to be a cooling herb, and used as a tonic and immune strengthener for people who are stressed or suffer from hot conditions such as high blood pressure, excess nervous energy, or ulcers. White American Ginseng is also used for mild fevers, to aid in the recovery of infectious diseases, for strengthening the lungs in cases of bronchitis and asthma, and for loss of the voice associated with respiratory disorders.

Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Do not use Ginseng if you are pregnant.
