Peganum Harmala, known as Syrian Rue, is a herbaceous desert succulent belonging to the Zygophyllaceae family. It grows from a woody rootstock and is bright-green and densely foliaged. It produces many single relatively large white flowers that develop into a fruit with a leathery seed capsule. Each capsule contains more than fifty dark brown seeds.

Syrian Rue increases heart activity, yet lowers blood pressure. Externally, Syrian Rue can be used as a wash for eczema and psoriasis and as a hair rinse for dandruff.
