Description: Rosemary is a small, fragrant evergreen perennial, belonging to the Labiateae (Lamiaceae) family. It is a shrubby herb with many scaly branches that are covered with opposite, dark green, narrow, needle like leaves that have a camphoraceous aroma. Lavender flowers, that resembe tiny orchids, grow on the stems that rise above the plant. Rosemary is an aromatic herb that is rich in tannic acid, camphorous resin, and an essential oil containing borneol and bornyl acetate. It is often used in potpourris and sachets, and as a natural hair treatment.

Culinary Uses: Rosemary enhances almost any food with which it is used. It can be used in breads and biscuits, vegetable dishes, soups, sauces, tofu, eggs, seafood, all meats, and as a seasoning for pickles, jam, stuffings and dressings, soups, and stews. Cooking with Rosemary aids the digestion of fats and starches. To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1/2 teaspoon of Whole Rosemary Leaf, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.

Medicinal Uses: Rosemary is a stimulant of the circulatory system. It is used to treat bites and stings externally. Internally it is used to treat migraines, bad breath, and to stimulate the sexual organs. It is also used to treat nervous disorders, upset stomachs, and is use to regulate the menstrual cycle and to ease cramps.
