Anise Seed - PIMPINELLA ANISUM

Description: Whole Anise is the dried ripe fruit from an aromatic, small annual herb belonging to the Umbelliferae family. The tear-shaped seeds are identified by their distinctive, sweet licorice flavor. The seeds can be ground fresh, or used whole to add a warm, licorice-like flavor to your favorite dish.

Culinary Uses: Anise Seed is used to flavor liquors, baked goods, fruit dishes, and meats. Anise Seed also makes a wonderful addition to teas. To make a tea, crush 1 teaspoon of dried Anise Seeds, and add to 2 cups of boiling water, reduce the temperature and simmer gently for 5 to 10 minutes, and quickly strain the tea.
