Description: Calamus is a perennial herb, from the Araceae family, that somewhat resembles the Iris. The Calamas Root is a long, indefinite, branched, cylindrical rhizome about the thickness of a finger and emitting numerous roots. The Indian rhizome is said to have a stronger and more agreeable flavour than that obtained in Europe or the United States. Calamas Root has a taste of a bitter ginger root. Calamus Root will add texture and a nice aroma to potpourris.
