Description:

Indian Sarsaparilla is a climbing slender plant with twining woody stems with rust-coloured bark, shiny and firm leaves varying in shape and size according to their age. The root is long, rigid, cylindrical, and little branched. It consists of an aligneous centre, with a brownish corky bark and has a bitter, sweetish, feeble aromatic taste.

Culinary Uses: To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Sarsaparilla root, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.

Medicinal Uses: Sarsaparilla helps the excretion of uric acid and helps cleanse disorders of the genito-urinary system. Sarsaparilla also helps to increase testosterone and progesterone levels in the body. It is said to excite the passions, making men more virile and women more sensuous. Indian Sarsaparilla has been successfully used in the cure of venereal disease, proving efficacious where American Sarsaparilla has failed.
