Description: Whole Anise is the dried ripe fruit from an aromatic, small annual herb belonging to the Umbelliferae family. The tear-shaped seeds are identified by their distinctive, sweet licorice flavor. The seeds can be ground fresh, or used whole to add a warm, licorice-like flavor to your favorite dish.

Culinary Uses: Anise Seed is used to flavor liquors, baked goods, fruit dishes, and meats. Anise Seed also makes a wonderful addition to teas. To make a tea, crush 1 teaspoon of dried Anise Seeds, and add to 2 cups of boiling water, reduce the temperature and simmer gently for 5 to 10 minutes, and quickly strain the tea.
Medicinal Uses: Anise Seed is considered to have warming and stimulating actions and to useful for circulation and digestive disorders. The seeds are considered helpful for loosening phlegm. It is considered one of the mildest expectorant herbs.
