Description: The Buckthorn is a slender shrub belonging to the Rhamnaceae family. In addition to its medicinal uses, the bark and leaves of the Buckthorn provide a bright yellow-red dye that has been used for centuries to color textiles. The bark is nearly inodorous, its taste is pleasant, sweetish and slightly bitter.

Medicinal Uses: Buckthorn is used to treat constipation, considered milder than some herbs. It's considered less likely to cause constipation after cleansing the bowels than other herbs used for similar purposes.
