Description: Whole Cardamom Seed Pods are from the Ellararia Cardamomum, a perennial plant blonging to the Zingiberaceae family. Cardamom is an aromatic spice, it has a pungent aroma and a warm, spicy-sweet flavor and an exotic floral aroma. The fruit of the cardamom plant is a light green oval pod containing three chambers that can hold up to twenty small black seeds. The seeds may be removed from the pods and ground, or the entire pod may be ground.

Culinary Uses: For the best flavor, heat the Cardamom Seed in a frying pan and cook the seeds until roasted. Cardamom Seed are used to flavor cakes, gingerbreads, apple pie, candies, cordials, liqueurs and spiced wine, bitters, curries, rice dishes, pickles, sausages and hamburgers. Cardamom Seed is also popular in chai and egg nog. It is also a flavoring in drinks including Arabic-style coffee (add a small amount of ground cardamom to ground espresso before brewing).
