Description: Cardamom Seed Powder is made from the dried and peeled, unripened fruit of the Ellararia Cardamomum, a perennial plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. Cardamom is an aromatic spice with a warm, spicy-sweet flavor and an exotic floral aroma. The fruit of the cardamom plant is a light green oval pod containing three chambers that can hold up to twenty small black seeds.

Culinary Uses: Cardamom Seed Powder is used to flavor cakes, gingerbreads, apple pie, candies, cordials, liqueurs and spiced wine, bitters, curries, rice dishes, pickles, sausages and hamburgers. It is also a flavoring in drinks including chai teas, egg nogg, and Arabic-style coffee (add a small amount of ground cardamom to ground espresso before brewing). Powdered cardamom is one of the principal seasonings in Old Bay Seasoning.
