Description: Carob Powder is the dried and powdered pods of the small branching Carob Tree that belongs to the Leguminosae (Fabaceae) family. It is a tree with wood of a pinkish hue, shiny dark green leaves and small red flowers followed by long, thick flat pods that are a shiny brown-purple. They contain a number of Carob seeds in a line along the center of the pods.
Culinary Uses: Roasted Carob Powder is a great caffeine-free, natural, and nutritious substitute for cocoa or chocolate. Medium roasted carob powder is roasted for 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
