Description: Celery Seed comes from the dried fruit (technically half-fruits) of the Apium Graveolens plant, a member of the Umbelliferae (Apiaceae) family. This plant is related to, but not the same as the vegetable celery plant. The seeds are very small, oval-shaped and brown with ridges. Celery Seed has an aroma and flavor similar in taste to fresh celery, Celery seed contains vitamins A, B-complex, C, and about 18% protein and are an important ingredient in mixed spices and salt-free seasonings.

Culinary Uses: Use Celery Seed to add a fresh celery flavor to casseroles, stews, sauces, soups, breads, salads and dressings, pickling recipes, tomato juice drinks and Bloody Marys, and egg dishes.
Medicinal Uses: Celery Seed has been helpful for colds, fever and flatulence. Celery seed tea is said to promote rest and sleep and to help soothe the nerves and relieve pain. Consuming celery seed in food is thought to aid in digesting protein.
