Cinnamon Bark Chips - CINNAMOMUM CASSIA

Description: Cinnamon is made from the inner bark of the small tropical evergreen Cinnamon tree, a member if the Lauraceae family. The bark is harvested during the rainy season when it's more pliable. When dried and aged, it curls into long quills, which are then made into Cinnamon Bark Chips. Cassia Cinnamon is a thicker, dark reddish brown Cinnamon with the flavor being more pungent and slightly bittersweet. Other then being known for its culinary and medicinal value, Cinnamon is a popular scent when added to potpourri.

Culinary Uses: Cinnamon is widely used in both sweet and savory dishes. It can be added to stews, curries, apple dishes, muffins, pies, cakes and cookies, French toast, chocolate, pickles, puddings, rice dishes, egg nog, coffee, teas, and wines.

Medicinal Uses: Cinnamon is thought to act as a stimulant to other herbs and to the body, and is sometimes used as a catalyst for remedies. It is also considered a blood purifier, to improve circulation, prevent infection, and as a digestive aid.

Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Cinnamon should not to be used during pregnancy. Avoid excessive use.
