Description: Coriander Seed is the dried, ripe fruit of a hardy and herbaceous annual plant that is a member of the Umbelliferae (Apiaceae) family. The fruit is rounded and is made up of two united "half-fruits," each containing a brownish seed. Coriander seeds are mildly fragrant and have a sweet, spicy aroma and a mild, distinctly sweet and mild flavor.

Culinary Uses: Whole Coriander Seeds are used in pickling and for special drinks, such as mulled wine, and bun topping. They also can be used for for baked goods, cookies, meat dishes, sausages and hot dogs, curry blends, soups, and beans. Coriander Seeds can be roasted before grinding to enhance the flavor.

Medicinal Uses: Coriander seeds have been considered useful for digestive and gastric complaints, coughs, and colds. Externally they have been used for headaches, oral and pharyngeal disorders, and halitosis.
