Description: Elecampane is a robust and stately herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the Compositae (Asteraceae) family. The whole plant is downy, and the flowers are bright yellow, resembling a double sunflower. Its brown and aromatic rootstock is large and succulent, with large, fleshy roots. The root contains the virtues of the plant.

Medicinal Uses: Elecampane Root is considered a natural expectorant and supportive to the respiratory system. It has been used for intestinal worms, water retention, and to lessen tooth decay. When burned, it's thought to repel insects.
Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Elecampane should not be used during pregnancy or while nursing. CAUTION: Avoid large doses or excessive use. Large doses may cause vomiting, diarrhea, spasms, and paralysis.
