Description: Golden Seal is a low herbaceous perennial belonging to the Ranunculaceae family. The plant has thick and knotty, bright yellow, rhizome that produces an erect hairy stem, bearing two large leaves, with three small greenish white petals that drop as soon as they come out, and the fruit looks like a raspberry. The golden seal rhizome contains alkaloids hydrastine, berberine, andcanadine, in addition to other phyto chemicals, oils, and resin.
