Culinary Uses: Hops are most commonly used as a flavoring agent in beer, where it acts as a preservative and also imparts a bitter flavor. They can be added to soups, stews, and other foods to produce bitterness, if desired. To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Hops Nuggets, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.
Medicinal Uses: Hops are useful in treating insomnia and nervous tension. Hops are also thought to be helpful in improving the appetite, and removing poisons from the body. Externally they are used to treat itching skin rashes and hives.
Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Hops are not recommended for use by persons suffering from depression.
