Description: Marshmallow is an erect perennial herb, belonging to the Malvaceae family. It has a thick and long root, gray-green velvety leaves, and pale pink flowers. Marshmallow Root contains a large quantity of mucilage (vegetable gum), starch, pectin, asparagin, and sugar.

Culinary Uses: To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Marshmallow Root, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.

Medicinal Uses: Marshmallow Root is considered soothing to the digestive system, skin, and urinary system by nourishing dry tissues and providing moisture. It's considered to help stimulate the immune system. It's also been used to aid in the expectoration of difficult mucous and phlegm.
