Description: Oregon Grape is a fast growing evergreen shrub, belonging to the Berberidaceae family. It is a spineless shrub with a very hard and woody yellow root, brown bark on the surface and yellow beneath with sparingly branched and stout stems, ovate shining dark green leaves, and fruit that is a purple-black, frosted berry with red juice. Oregon Grape contains the alkaloid berberine, known as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.
