Description: Paprika is from the ground pod from a milder pepper variety, known as Sweet Red Pepper or Pimento Pepper. It is a plant that is a member of the genus Capsicum, belonging to the Solanaceae family. The Paprika pepper is larger and much milder than the chili pepper. Paprika which adds a nicely rounded and mildly smoked flavor to culinary creations. While paprika does contain capsaicin, it’s one of the milder of the chilies, and is not often used medicinally. It is, however, high in vitamin C and carotenoids, making it a healthy addition to the diet when eaten fresh.

Culinary Uses: Paprika can be used as a garnish and a seasoning for a plethora of savory dishes. Paprika releases its flavor and color when heated, but it also burns easily. Once it is brown, it starts to become bitter, so take care not to cook it too long.
